Social Media.. One of the most simple things on Earth, yet so complicated. Followers. Likes. The most two important key elements in social media. It has been haunting me in the back of my head, making me obsessed with it. She only has 90 followers and she gets the same amount of likes as me?! WHAT! Why do I have 340 followers on Instagram, yet only 70 likes? Am I being "fake"? I even bought an app to tell me what I have to get to be "popular". Social Media has taken control of my mind.
However, focusing on my followers and likes brought me a lesson: It's not about the numbers, but who do I really know, and talk to? Yes, I have 340 followers, but do I know all of them? Have I talked to all of them? As much I don't want to admit it, the answer is no. Most of them are from my school, but I have never talked to some of them. So thats when I came up with a solution: Printing out a list of my followers and crossing out red lines on people who I have never talked to, or never really knew. This emotionally helped me as well. I was able to feel the sense of being true and honest, instead of saying "I have 340 followers", while not even know some of them.
Some people care about followers or likes. But, I learned its not about followers or likes. Its about the people WHO do care about you and WHO you are true to.
